NOTE:
For the 6 days before Class 1, space
your Prep 1 time as shown:
STEP
1A: Watch
this clip showing the importance of focused awareness,
then
type your name and "1A" in
the subject line of a blank email and send
it to the
email at the top of this page
to show when you started Prep 1.
STEP
2A: Read
the course information in these boxes and if anyone else is paying
for any part of your course, ask them to also read it.
Parts
1-2-3: The Course consists of 3 Parts. Each Part
has a Class Prep (30 minutes a day for 6 days) followed
by a Class (3 hours). Each Prep is a prerequisite
for its Class because it affects what's done during the Class.
For each Prep or Class that is not completed properly, a Follow-up
(up to 3 hours) is required.
Photo
Records: Each time that you hand in coursework, take a
photo of your work beside the class attendance sheet for the
hand-in day. Keep all of your photo records for 1 year.
Outdoor
Activities: Each Class has many outdoor activities (even
if it is raining or cold). Before coming to each Class, check
the hourly weather forecast and bring an umbrella if
there is any chance of rain. If there's any chance that you
will feel cold outdoors, wear a warm jacket.
Incomplete
Classes: The course includes a reserved seat for 3 Classes.
If you miss any part of any Class, you can return to a future
Class and stand by to see if someone with a reserved seat
doesn't attend the part(s) that you need; however, if you
are stand-by, it may not be possible to find a vacant seat
within the ICBC one year time limitation for GLP Courses.
ICBC
Course Document: If you complete the in-car Lessons and
Parts 1-2-3 within one year, you will receive an ICBC
Course Document for two Grade 11 credits. If you give
the document to ICBC before the start of your first road
test, your N-stage time requirement will be reduced by
6 months if you have no driving prohibitions, driving
violations with demerit points, or at-fault crashes while
you are an N-driver.
Course
Dynamics: Some of the course dynamics are based on the
instructor's experiences with Greyhound, Vancouver Police
Department, Canada Safety Council, Justice Institute of BC
(Pacific Traffic Education Center), Young Drivers of Canada,
BC Ministry of Attorney General (Corrections Branch), Lower
Mainland Public Schools, Vancouver Community College, Dalhousie
University, and Class 2-3-4-5-6 vehicles.

1)
Find
a driver
who has been in a crash while sitting in the driver's seat and ensure
they have never been interviewed by you or anyone else for a Class
Prep. Whatever time you spend looking for a suitable driver, do
not include that time in your 30 minute daily limit.
2)
On
scrap paper (size of area at bottom of worksheet), describe
driver's crash and draw
a diagram of the crash scene. Refer
to each vehicle as a letter (see example below) and use
"A" for the interviewed driver.
3)
Ensure
your description and diagram are easy to understand because someone
else will be presenting your work during the Classes.
4)
Ask
the driver to go to redredredred.red and do
the Colors Exercise, then remember
their reactions.
5)
From your
rough draft on scrap paper, transfer
the info and image so they neatly fill the blank area at the bottom
of the worksheet. Use a pen and print
neatly (your work will be checked by ICBC).
